We are a small Flyball team based in
Sarasota, Florida. We organized our team in June 2005 after racing with
another team for three years.
We chose our club name, Dependable
Paws, because that is the way our dogs race ... they are very dependable and
seldom make a mistake.
All our dogs and teammates are
family and we even have three generations of the same family racing together.
Our goals in Flyball are to have fun
with our dogs and teammates and make sure our dogs stay healthy and are
conditioned to race. Our main goal is not to race to win but rather to do
the best we can and run clean. If we happen to win, that is just icing on
the cake. We race in both NAFA and U-FLI and have attended tournaments in
Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas.
We were the first Florida team to
register with U-FLI and in our first year we qualified to race in the First
Ever U-FLI National Flyball Championship which was held in Mesquite, Texas
on November 11, 2006. Out of 27 teams nationally, Dependable
Paws was 1 of only 5 teams that qualified to participate in the First Ever
U-FLI National Flyball Championship in Division 5.
At the Championship tournament, we
raced against the top teams in the nation in our division. Going into our
last race we were in a 3-way tie for first place. And, as it turned out,
Dependable Paws was the only team in our division who won all five heats of
their last race thereby breaking the 3-way tie and making our team the
